Triplex Penthouse On the Plaza Hotel Back on the Market for $59 Million

Christian Candy, the real estate mogul has put the penthouse at the Plaza Hotel back on the market for an asking price of $59 million. The Monaco based Christian and his brother Nick is well known real estate developers who specialize in high-design luxury residences.

They were in the news for redesigning the ultra luxurious and exclusive One Hyde Park in London. The triplex penthouse on the Plaza was bought by them last year for only $25.9 million. They have renovated the entire property and brought in some significant upgrades. It is a one of a kind property that is difficult to replicate anywhere else and with the massive upgrades is comparable to any luxurious residence in the city or elsewhere.

The Penthouse is Spread on the Top 3 Floors of the Building

The penthouse boasts of 6,319
square feet of interior living space and 229 square feet of exterior living space. The penthouse is spread over the 19th, 20th and the 21st floors of the building. There is an elevator on the 19th floor that services all the three floors of the penthouse. The 19th floor has three bedroom suits and a laundry room. The 20th floor houses a grand living room, a 14 seat dining room and a gourmet kitchen. The top floor houses the master suite with private terrace. There is no need to highlight the fact that the master suite is most lavishly done up.

The Highest Price in the Building Stands at $6,316 Per Sq. Ft.

The Plaza Hotel building is over a century old now. The building was renovated and converted to condominiums in 2007. The current record of the highest price paid for property in the Plaza stands at $6,316 per square foot which was created in 2011 when Igor Krutoy, a Russian composer and music producer had purchased two adjoining condos for $48 million.

The Wall Street Journal in its report has pointed out that if the Candy brothers are able to get a buyer at the asking price for the penthouse then it will be a new record for the prestigious building. The real estate market, particularly for luxury properties has witnessed robust growth and it is highly likely that the triplex penthouse will create a new record.
