Stanford, the first American university to raise $ 1 billion a year

Stanford University raised for the first time in U.S. history over a billion dollars over a single year, almost double the funds raised by Harvard University, writes the BBC.

Specifically, Stanford raised funds worth 1.03 billion dollars, according to a study by the Council for Aid to Education.

Ranks second Harvard University, with about 650 million dollars, followed by Yale with 544 million dollars.

In total, the 3,500 American universities included in the study recalled raised 31 billion dollars in 2012, 2.3 percent more than in 2011.


The first ten U.S. universities received 17 percent of the total.

Among 79,000 donors include Stanford University Robert King, an investor in Silicon Valley, which offered 100 million dollars for the creation of a research center on emerging economies.
